Design Review and Construction supervision of Acanpii and Andibo Dam

The objective of this assignment was to undertake a design review and construction supervision of Andibo Dam in Nebbi District.

The design was carried out to evaluate the adequacy of the dam against the current situation with respect to the following items:
site investigations; engineering design report; tender documents; and engineer's estimate.

The services provided included reviewing available designs to check for appropriateness of the site, sizing and location of facilities provide detailed cost estimations and tendering documents and supervise construction of works to ensure that the Contractor adheres to the design specifications.

The Andibo dam parameters were as follows:

  • Dam Height= 10 m
  • Embankment Length =452 m
  • Crest Width= 6.4 m
  • Catchment area = 51 km2
  • Yield = 10.2 MCM
  • Reservoir Capacity = 3.4 MCM (33% of Yield)

Consultancy services for Feasibility studies and detailed Engineering design of water supply systems for the towns of Moroto,Kacheri-Lokona, Kotido, Bugadde and Nakaperimoru.

The Maximum Day Demand for Moroto RGC was established as 1,441 m3/day for the Base Year (2014), 1,805 m3/day for the Initial Year (2018), 3,172 m3/day for the future year (2028) and 4,205 m3/day for the Ultimate Year (2033). Total population for Moroto RGC is be 16,812 for the Base Year (2014), 21,065 for the Initial Year (2018), 37,020 for the future year (2028) and 49,075 for the Ultimate Year (2033).

The Maximum Day Demand for Kacheri-Lokona RGC was established as 193 m3/day for the Base Year (2014), 239 m3/day for the Initial Year (2018), 398 m3/day for the future year (2028) and 521 m3/day for the Ultimate Year (2033). Total population for Kacheri-Lokona RGC is be 3,568 for the Base Year (2014), 4,420 for the Initial Year (2018), 7,549 for the future year (2028) and 9,866 for the Ultimate Year (2033).

The Maximum Day Demand for Kotido RGC was established as 1,119 m3/day for the Base Year (2014), 1387 m3/day for the Initial Year (2018), 2167 m3/day for the future year (2028) and 2,711 m3/day for the Ultimate Year (2033). Total population for Kotido RGC is be 13,570 for the Base Year (2014), 16,810 for the Initial Year (2018), 25,799 for the future year (2028) and 31,960 for the Ultimate Year (2033).

The Maximum Day Demand for Bugadde RGC was established as 1,032m3/day for the Base Year (2014), 1,185m3/day for the Initial Year (2018), 1,671m3/day for the future year (2028) and 1,985m3/day for the Ultimate Year (2033). Total population for Bugadde RGC is be 14,680 for the Base Year (2014), 16,846 for the Initial Year (2018), 23,763 for the future year (2028) and 28,223 for the Ultimate Year (2033).

The Maximum Day Demand for Nakaperimoru. RGC was established as 166 m3/day for the Base Year (2014), 205 m3/day for the Initial Year (2018), 351m3/day for the future year (2028) and 459 m3/day for the Ultimate Year (2033). Total population for Nakaperimoru. RGC is be 4,833 for the Base Year (2014), 5,987 for the Initial Year (2018), 10,227 for the future year (2028) and 13,367 for the Ultimate Year (2033).

Total population for Opit RGC is, 3,518 for the Initial Year (2015), 6,177 for the future year (2025) and 9,960 for the Ultimate Year (2035).

The Maximum Day Demand for Patongo RGC is, 116 m3/day for the Initial Year (2015), 256 m3/day for the future year (2025) and 571 m3/day for the Ultimate Year (2035). Total population for Patongo RGC is 2,108 for the Initial Year (2015), 5,045 for the future year (2025) and 11,090 for the Ultimate Year (2035).

Review of Rwengaaju model village irrigation scheme in Kabarole district

Feasibility Study, Detailed Engineering design and preparation of Tender Documents. A total of 2,294 households with an average of 4.8 persons per household and an average landholding of 0.1 - 1.2 hectares distributed in 18 villages will benefit from the proposed project. The annual irrigation water demand for Rwengaaju Parish is 787.2 mm/year. The peak water demand which was adapted for design of Rwengaaju Irrigation Scheme is 1.63 L/s/ha occurring in February.
